Building News November 2009

During the October school holiday the construction work for our ‘National School Pride’ grant (part of the Australian Governments ‘Building the Education Revolution’ scheme) was completed. As well as replacing windows in our oldest building, installing a soft fall area for play equipment and a fence on the playing field, our amphitheatre is now covered by a tensile canopy.  This has proved a great asset to the school and has already been put to great use as the secondary students rehearse their production of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’.

We were also successful in gaining a grant under the’ Primary Schools for the 21st Century’ section of the Australian Governments ‘Building the Education Revolution’ scheme. We have $930, 000 to construct our new pre-primary rooms, on the same plan but a slightly smaller scale than the primary and secondary buildings.  We are also able to have the same architects, builder and consultants – ensuring great design, construction, and continuity. The demolition of the old pre-primary building took place over the school holidays and the construction of the rammed earth walls has started.
