Pre-IB and IB Excursion to the Joondalup Civic Centre on Tuesday 21 August 2018 to attend a City of Joondalup Council meeting and attend a Youth Engagement Workshop.
Attending the council meeting will be a good opportunity for the students to gain understanding of the decision making process of a local government and also gain awareness of civic and community issues that arise on a local government level.
Arrangements are as follows:
- The students will travel using public transport.
- We will meet at Whitfords station by the ticket booth at 8.40am and travel to Joondalup Civic Centre.
- The students will be accompanied by Lena.
- After the excursion, which finishes at approx. 2.30pm we will make our way back to Whitfords station where your child may either be picked up at 3.00pm or make their own way home or return to school for pickup at approx.3.20pm.
The students are required to bring their Smartrider, water bottle, rain jacket and hat and wear shoes comfortable for walking.
Permission slip to be returned by Friday 10 August.
Lunch will be provided but please bring a packed lunch for any special dietary requirements.
No iPods, MP3 players, or other electronic devices are permitted on the excursion.
Students who are unable to comply with behavioural expectation will need to return to school at parental expense. Supervision and a suitable educational program will be provided for them at school. This decision rests with the teacher in charge.
