October 17 is the International Day for the Eradication of Poverty.  This event is to raise awareness of global poverty and show what we can do to help.

On Friday 14 October, the students will have the same lunch as many millions of other children in the world – a bowl of rice.  The rice will be cooked in their classrooms.

The money that would have been spent on their lunch is donated so that the students can collectively purchase assistance for poor communities in the world.

In previous years the students have enjoyed participating in the event and the monies raised have been spent on clean drinking water, mosquito nets, reforestation, goats etc or donated to the agencies working in areas of famine.
