Overview
At The Montessori School Kingsley, we are dedicated to authentic Montessori education, guided by pure Montessori principles. As Australia’s longest-running Montessori school, we provide a nurturing and enriching environment for children aged 3 to 18 years. Our mixed-age Montessori classrooms support students from pre-primary through to secondary. In Years 11 and 12, we offer the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and the Career-related Programme.
School Structure
Our structure is as follows:
- 3 x Pre-Primary Classes (ages 3 to 6 years)
- 3 x Lower Primary Classes (ages 6 to 9 years)
- 2 x Upper Primary Advisories (ages 9 to 12 years)
- 1 x Lower Secondary Cohort (Years 7-8-9)
- 1 x International Baccalaureate Cohort
- (Pre-International Baccalaureate (Year 10)
- International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme and International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (Years 11 and Year 12)
The Role
The Facilities and Grounds Officer is responsible for ensuring the school grounds and facilities are always presented to a high standard.
The role involves maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment for students, visitors and staff by implementing the school’s maintenance plan, which will ensure excellent and safe delivery of the educational service and sustainability of The Montessori School Kingsley.
The position requires someone with good interpersonal and organisational skills and able to use their initiative to see tasks that need to be completed outside of the regular jobs.
The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in grounds and facility maintenance and gardening
- General building and garden maintenance skills.
- Competent in operating machinery (e.g. blower vac, drills, etc).
- Knowledge of grass maintenance, irrigation, bushland and native plant care
- Strong organisational, planning, decision-making and time-management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to high work standards and a work ethic that meets the demands of the role.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively and have the initiative to organise and prioritise workloads.
- Ability to work safely and respectfully in a school environment, including around students, staff and visitors.
- Commitment to Montessori principles and the values of the School.
